This was the memories story we had to do I did mine on my old miniature pinscher Rocket.
The day I meet Rocket.

4.05.10 It was Saturday 19th of February 2009 and my mum step sister Vanessa and I had gone out to buy our dog a new collar and flea treatment. We had looked all over Carterton for some flea treatment but couldn’t find any I told mum we should go to the Greytown pet shop. When we got there, there was the cutest little dog called Rocky in a small cage mum saw him and fell in love I was so happy and couldn’t stop smiling (I knew she would get him) we asked why he was in such a tiny cage the lady told us it was because he could climb out of the big green cages and thats when the lady took him out of the small cage and put him in the big one and we watched him climb out it was so funny I almost died laughing. Mum was reading the piece of paper that was on his cage and it said he was 3 and a half years old and a miniature pinscher I was amazed he was so small and I had never heard of that breed before. Mum said she’ll take him I was so happy and it looked like mum and Rocky were too. We got some things for him paid and left. We were walking down the road and all he could seem to do was go toilet it was so embarrassing I went so red. Mum thought about his name when we got home and we changed it to Rocket because he was as fast as Rocket and he just didn’t suit Rocky. Today Rocket isn’t with us anymore but I still look back and think of the fun times I had with him and the day I meet the funniest cutest dog ever.
This was the speech we had to do I did mine on Animal Testing.
Picture this living life locked inside a dark closet without any control over anything in your life what so ever you can’t choose what and when you eat you can’t choose when the light turns off and on how would you spend your time maybe constantly thinking about if you would ever have a family of your own one day, imagine spending your whole life like this although you haven’t committed a crime at all, well this is the life for all sorts of animals in the United States only one difference they have metal bars sitting in front of them.
Think about the needs for all of these different animals:
Chimpanzees, in their natural environment they are never separated from their family They usually spend hours together each and every day, grooming each other and making soft nests for them to sleep in each night. The chimpanzees are loving and protective parents and baby chimpanzees will stay by there mothers for years on end.But there are no families, no companions, no grooming and no nests in the laboratory There is only cold hard steel bars emptiness and loneliness that goes on for many many years that the poor chimpanzees sink into depression and eventually lose their mind.Rats and Mice are denied places to dig and hide. Cats and Dogs are denied exercise, affection and homes with loving, caring families they long for. Rabbits have no room to hop. Pigs can’t root into the ground or build their nests. Even when these cages are clean which is not always the case the animals are not allowed to have any normal behavior. On top of all this there are animals in the laboratories that are infected with diseases, mice can have tumors as big as there own bodies, kittens are purposely blinded and rats are forced to suffer major seizures The experimenters forcefully feed the animals chemicals and perform repeated surgeries on them implanting wires into their brain, crushing there spine and much more, just so that they can be dumped back into a cage usually with no painkillers, but when they get dragged back out they don’t know if they will be injected, have blood taken from them, horrible surgery or even death. Often these poor animals not only go through these horrible procedures they even watch other animals be horribly killed right in front of them.
This is Britches, he is a baby monkey that was taken from his mother and had his
eyelids sewn together so that experimenter could test blindness on him. These two kittens have had their skulls cut open and had a bunch of nerves put into their brain so experimenters could do what they said study deafness without giving them any painkillers but this test was proven by the World Federation of the deaf to be wasteful and cruel. These three dogs have had their voice chords surgically removed so that the experimenters don’t get interrupted in their horrible experiments Luckily for these animals there are people who care some of these people work in these laboratories and when they see an animal being abused they call PETA People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and thanks to these people PETAs undercover investigators and caseworkers have revealed what goes on behind the laboratory doors. How would you feel if you lived like this I don’t think you would like it much so please when your in the shops try to buy something that has not been tested on animals because by buying that product you could be killing another innocent animal.
SPCA Writing
This is the SPCA writing we did there were three things we got to focus them on I chose What does the SPCA do
If you have ever been to the SPCA what were you thinking when you walked in “yay! I’m getting a cat or yay! I’m getting a dog” Well did you know that these animals have come a long way before being your pet. The SPCA helps animals by doing things like saving the animals from neglect, abuse, abandonment and a lot more. They also get animals that get given to the SPCA to be adopted out to a new family this may be because the pets owner has to go over seas to live, living circumstances have changed or maybe they were found on the streets. You may read in newspapers about how the SPCA saves animals from being shot, beaten and a whole lot more they also advertise adoption in the newspaper and if they do get over board on some animals they may have to put them down, the good thing in wellington is its good quote “we have no time limit for the animals in the wellington SPCA care”.
So now I hope you know a bit more about what the SPCA does and if you are going to buy a pet why not get one from your nearest SPCA by doing that you could be saving an animals life.
